Katherine Chappell, a special effects editor of TV series, 'Game of Thrones', was killed by a lioness on Monday in the Lion Park, South Africa.
The American woman who was slain by a lioness in an African wildlife park has been recognized as the Game of Thrones film editor, Katherine Chappell, who was in Africa for a charitable mission as reported by Huffington Post. Chappell is in Africa to allocate money for a benevolent organization that saves animals from poachers. The 29-year-old editor passed away on Monday when the lioness leaped into the open car window as she takes pictures during the trip.
Tour guide, Pierre Potgieter, who was with her in the animal park, endured a heart attack and severe arm injuries trying to save her life. He denied that they were on tour with the windows open, affirming that Chappell opened the window just at the very last second.
Scott Simpson, assistant operations manager at Lion Park said that the lioness paused approximately one meter from the car as Katherine keeps on taking pictures as revealed by Daily Mail. The lioness then dived at the car, stinging the woman by the window. The staff hounded the lion away and tried to halt the hemorrhage on Katherine's neck providing first aid treatment as an ambulance rescued her. Chappell died forthwith.
Mr. Simpson brood over why guests assume it's undeceptive to hang about in an open window. He also explained that they place signage all over the place that visitors must shut their windows in the area. They give out a slip of paper to remind them once they come into the park. The notice cautions guests to keep their windows close is seen on the passenger side seat of the car as well. "It is incredibly sad that a life had to be lost in this manner," the Lion Park statement asserted as reported by CNN.
The lioness will be transferred to another property throughout the investigation. It will not be euthanized.
