Criminal Minds is renewed for Season 11. Sadly, two main cast members will not be coming back for its eleventh season. The spin-off of the show is said to have been cancelled despite the fact the pilot episode have already been aired.
The two stars that would be leaving Criminal Minds Season 11 are AJ Cook and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
The executive producer of Criminal Minds, Erica Messer, has confirmed the sad news that actress AJ Cook, who plays the main character Jennifer Jareau, will be missing in action for a couple of episodes in the eleventh season of the show due to her pregnancy. Messer added that the writers of the show are finding a way to Cook's absence.
Another pregnant actress in the series who will be leaving is Jennifer Love Hewitt who plays the role of Kate Callahan in the show.
Messer said that, "Because she's due in July, when we would start shooting Season 11, timing-wise there was no way for her to do both, to be able to give that baby everything she wanted to give that baby and still be on our show. We wrote to that, and that's how season 10 ends. It's a bittersweet idea of 'life is full of choices and they define who you are."
Fans fear that despite the airing of the pilot episode of Beyond Borders, a Criminal Minds spin-off, the show might be cancelled.
This is because of CBS President Nina Tassler's confirmation that Anna Gunn is no longer part of the cast of Breaking Borders which is the star of the pilot episode.
However, Tassler said that Gunn's character will be replaced by Sinise's character Jack Garrett.
"Gary [Sinise] is sort of larger than life and [as Jack Garrett] he filled a lot of the same [needs as Gunn's character]. But we're actually going to be adding a couple of new characters" that "speak more to the needs of the franchise," Tassler explained.
CBS hasn't announced an air date or release date for Criminal Minds Season 11 but soon enough we'll find out.
