Season 12 of 'So You Think You Can Dance' is always bound to be different. But this time around the creators of the show have decided to up the gamble and make this a competition in more ways than one. The series will showcase America's most talented dancers from the stage and the street (Stage vs. Street), beginning with the audition rounds.
The new format lets the contestant decides if he or she belongs to either a stage trained performer or a street virtuoso. So in 'SYTYCD' Season 12, the lines in the sand are definitely drawn. And it's time to finally find out, once and for all, which is better: Stage or Street?
Mentor Travis Wall, wrote a blog on Entertainment Weekly, revealed that 'SYTYCD' Season 12 is definitely going to be more competitive than ever. With the new Stage vs. Street format, mentor expects a more of "a competition vibe."
He also added that, "It kind of feels like season 1-it's completely fresh, and they don't really know if it's going to be small groups or if it's going to be duets, and for how long."
Aside from the new format, two new judges made debut on Monday. Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo, along with 'SYTYCD' vet Nigel Lythgoe, have started searching for America's new top dancer in Dallas and Memphis.
According to US Magazine, new judges of 'SYTYCD' Season 12 were not put in that position without much careful thought. Paula Abdul has a Ph.D. in dancing, owing to something called 1980, while Jason Derulo is a great dancer despite he is being known as a singer. During the first audition, the two judges already made their harsh and even hilarious comments for each contestant.
