Nina Dobrev has finally left the show-temporarily. Though, as this major change transpired, many more shifts in major characterization will occur in the seventh season of The Vampire Diaries. And Damon Salvatore is one of them.
During the ATX Television Festival that just happened recently, Julie Pec and Kevin Williamson shared the things are going to happen in the coming season.
MTV shared what Julie Pec said as "Damon going through a few phases of Damonism - from villainy to obsessive not-so-secret admirer status to loverboy and then sorta hero. But "the root of him as a sassy, 'take no prisoners, do what you got to do to get it done,' anti-hero is still very much there."
This would mean that the bad guy Damon will be coming back, a darker, more dangerous one. What he's kept within for a long time will come out.
"He now has more freedom to kind of be messy with his choices. I think you'll see a darker Damon with the sort of wisdom of his experience, but a freedom to act out as he may feel like he needs to," Pec explained.
Fans can't wait anymore as to what the "darker Damon" will look like, as a huge hint says it'll a lot sexier.
More so, some more revelations of the drama's history and future have been shared by the partner in the said event, as cited by TVline. Williamson said that he wants to attend the series as something more of Dark Shadows and less Twilight.
He also said that the decision to have Damon kill Jeremy at the top of Season 2 was born because the producers realized he'd become "too heroic, too quickly." And that this allowed them to slow that process down.
Plec said on the other hand that Chris Wood would've been a regular, but they've decided to keep him an 'irredeemable villain.'
And Lastly, as Dobrev is out, the next season will be about "finding family."
What do you think of the coming Season 7 of Vampire Diaries? Are you excited for the "Darker Damon"?
