Season 2 of, the Starz show, Outlander looks like it will be surprising to all fans of the book and the show, with its latest promise to deliver more surprises that are not included in the source material.
According to Latin Post, despite executive producer, Ron Moore, wanting to stick to the formula of using one book as the basis for one season just as they did for the first one, it would seem that doing so again would be more difficult to pull off for the second installment.
Moore said the second book, Dragonfly in Amber, is a great deal more nuanced and complex than the first one they were able to use for the show, and hence the need to do things differently. Moore went on to say that the show will still resemble the book for the most part, but it will have to shift at least in some way in order for it to translate properly to a different medium.
Interestingly, Moore made a point of saying "twists and turns" not found in the book are going to be shown for Outlander's sophomore season, and that could perhaps mean that the show is planting the seeds for eventually departing even more from its source material in the not too distant future.
Along with developments regarding the possible plotlines for season 2 was the news that Audrey Brisson is now set to join the cast in the role of Sister Angelique, according to Unreality TV UK.
For now, Brisson is officially considered to be a guest star on Outlander, but the door is reportedly open for her character to step into a larger role and potentially become a series regular.
Lastly, George R.R. Martin, the mind behind the books that inspired Game of Thrones, is saying he wants Tobias Menzies to eventually make a return to the HBO show, according to Zap 2 It.
Menzies currently has a starring role on Outlander while his Game of Thrones character, Edmure Tully, was last seen on the HBO show back in its third season.
Season 2 of Outlander is expected to premiere in 2016.
