Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Wants John Carpenter To 'Big Trouble in Little China'; Johnson Will Not Resume With The Movie If He's Dissatisfied With The Script

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is at this time having discussions to star in the new version of John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China. As the star and the producer, Johnson will take on the role of Jack Burton as played by Kurt Russell in the 1986 original.

The report from IGN agrees that the original flick is one of Dwayne's personal preferences, and he's taking part of rolling out the remake to 20th Century Fox with his partners Dany and Hiram Garcia.

Johnson had just succeeded in his major solo launching career with the movie San Andreas that raised $53.2 million in its opening week, striking it on the top-spot. He is also included in the upcoming HBO series Ballers as a football manager. Adding that to his participation in the Fast and the Furious, it looks like Dwayne Johnson remains as influential as ever.

According to Entertainment Weekly, The Rock said, "I loved the original when I was younger and I loved the main character - all the characters. It felt like if we surrounded ourselves with the right group of people, the right writers who loved the movie too and wanted to honor it, bring on John Carpenter in some capacity ... If we did that, then we have a shot at hopefully making something good."

As reported in Super Hero Hype, it will be written by the writers of X-Men: First Class, Thor and the looming Power Rangers movie, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. He plans to fetch someone who absolutely appreciates the piece, the original director, John Carpenter. Contrasting his other movies, John Carpenter did not write the screenplay for Big Trouble in Little China so Carpenter has no authority to anything. "I'm not involved with it... I didn't write the original one-no harm, no foul," the director explained.

Then again, Geeks of Doom is claiming that Johnson is not yet certain if what part Carpenter would play, but he assures that if it didn't happen in writing as expected, then there would be nothing to work out for. "As we write it, if the whole thing starts to stink up, then we thank everybody for their efforts and accept this just couldn't make it."

As of this time, this is all in the planning phase; it is not yet certain if Carpenter would be on the top form working out on the film. If he did, most likely, it would be as an executive producer; nonetheless they must give him a higher accountability.
