A new poster for Independence Day 2 shows that aliens will attack the entire Earth which will result in a global catastrophe. Asian actors meanwhile will join the cast of the movie 20 years after its prequel.
The licensing poster for Independence Day 2 which will be exhibited during the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas next week shows an alien invasion on planet Earth. According to Slashfilm, only three cities were attacked such as Washington DC, New York and Los Angeles in Independence Day 1 which starred Will Smith. This time, based on the newly released synopsis, in Independence Day 2, the globe will experience an unbelievable destruction as aliens try to take over. All the countries on earth will counterattack them with the use of recovered alien technology to protect the planet from possible extinction. This despite the alien's more superior and extraordinary powers.
CAST AND CHARACTERS
Independence Day 2 will be showing in theatres on June 24, 2016. Will Smith will no longer reprise his role as Capt. Steven Hiller in the sequel which is set 20 years after the first alien attack, exactly 20 years after the first movie was released in 1996. According to International Business Times, Smith's son will be played by Jessie Usher as Dylan. Bill Pullman is still US President Whitmore while Jeff Goldblum still gets to star as scientist David Levison. Vivica Fox, Brent Spiner and Judd Hirsch will also be back. The new cast includes Liam Hemsworth, Maika Monroe, Charlotte Gainsbourg and DeObia Oparei. Singaporean actor Chin Han is also a new addition as the head of a Chinese space troop. Han was Councilman Yen in "Captain Soldier: The Winter Solider". He also appeared in "The Dark Knight".
Aside from Han, another Asian actor will be in the new movie. Vine Report says that Chinese actress and model Angelbaby will join the cast but there are no reports yet on what role she will be playing.
Distributed by 20th Century Fox, Independence Day will be something to watch out for during the summer of next year.
