DAREDEVIL'S COMPANION
Slashfilm reports that it was announced on Tuesday that Jon Bernthal will portray the role of the anti-hero The Punisher when the Daredevil series makes a comeback on Netflix in 2016. Bernthal's role is a big presence in Season 2. The Punisher is a vigilante who aims to clean the gangsters of New York no matter how deadly it will take. He will team up with Daredevil, the man without fear. Marvel's Television Head Jeph was quoted as saying that Bernthal has this unparalleled power in every role he does that viewers can relate with.
John Bernthal also had previous roles in Fury, Wolf of Wolfstreet and TNT's Mob City, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Cnet reports that John Bernthal is expected to wear The Punisher's skull shirt. He will be joined by recurring cast Charlie Cox as the Daredevil, Vincent D' Onofrio as Wilson Fisk and Deborah Ann Wolf as Karen Page. Mainstays Elektra and Bullseye are not yet confirmed to reprise their roles in Daredevil Season 2.
THE PUNISHER
The Punisher first appeared in Marvel's The Amazing Spiderman comic book in 1974. He is a US military veteran and a martial arts master with several weapons who is determined to kill criminals after his wife and children were caught in a crossfire of a mob shootout. Bernthal is the fourth actor to play the said role. The first one was Dolph Lundgren in 1989, followed by Tom Jane in 2004 and Ray Stevenson in "Punisher:War Zone in 2008".
While the Daredevil Season 2 is yet to come next year, fans can still watch the series on Netflix online.
