Chris Hemsworth has no problem stepping into his roles from previous and recent movie projects. But he is currently challenged to do a woman's job in this recent project Ghostbusters Reboot .
News broke about Chris being part of the all-female Ghostbusters reboot on Wednesday. According to ABCNews, Chris Hemsworth will be the "sexiest receptionist" alive. Director Paul Feig has announced in his twitter account that Hemsworth will be joining the all-female ghostbusters team: Melissa McCathy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Kristen Wiig.
However, this is not going to be the first comedy role of Hemsworth. His starts to expand his genre from action and drama films to comedy movies. He has signed up to do a role in the sequel of "Vacation."
TheGuardian revealed that Chris Hemsworth was first offered with a small role but has declined to be casted for the small part. From then, Director Feig together with his co-writer Katie Dippold have amplified that "small role" to a receptionist. It was then that Chris has decided to switch holding his Mjolnir for a phone and a pen and do the "who-do-you-gonna-call" receptionist role.
DailyMail UK reported that the role of Annie Potts in the original movie Ghostbuster was an energetic receptionist named Janine Melnitz. This is going to be opposite from the previous stereotype character of Chris Hemsworth as Thor or Huntsman. He is not going to be the one saving the people this time. He will be leaving it to the four ladies.
Although, prior to the death of Harold Ramis in February 2014, Director Ivan Reitman wanted to do the reboot with the original cast. Subsequently, Pul Feig was approached to direct the project when Reitman resigned from doing the project. Director Feig has put in plain words why he wanted to do reversal roles in Ghostbusters movie reboot. He said that he likes to work with funny women, and it has nothing to do with gimmicks.
Chris Hemsworth will be working in this project first before working on Thor 3. The production of Ghostbusters will start later part of summer, and it will hit theaters on summer 2016.
