‘The Voice’ Season 9 Latest Updates: Stefani back as judge; Williams feels pressure after winning last season

By

The new set of judges for The Voice Season 9 has been revealed. This season, Christina Aguilera will be taking a break and Gwen Stefani will take her place in the meantime. Stefani is excited to work with the seasoned judges while Pharrell might be preparing to protect his throne after winning last season.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Stefani will join Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams. Levine and Shelton have been judges since season 1, while Williams has been with the show for 3 seasons. The Voice has changed their panel a couple of times already but it has not affected the ratings so far.

Stefani will temporarily replace Aguilera so that the 'Say Something' singer can focus more on her career and music as reported by IBTimes. This isn't the first time that Stefani saved Aguilera in the show and in fact, she was also visible last season when she returned as a guest mentor. Stefani is really excited to go back and shared that she can't believe the show asked her to mentor once again. She is also looking forward to work with the other judges which she believes have incredible talents.

There are mixed reactions from the fans of the show with regard to the new panel. Some believe that Aguilera is a better judge and should stay in the show while some are thrilled to see Stefani. There are few who suggested that Levine and Shelton should be the ones taking the break as they seem to look disinterested last season.

Meanwhile, Williams might be feeling the pressure as one of his mentees won last season. It is expected that all four judges are going to step up their game next season in terms of mentoring each of their members.

The Voice Season 9 will return this September on NBC.
