Underworld 5 will happen, and it will be Lycans and Vampires once again as the battle between the mystical races will be continued by the next generation. Kate Benckinsale and Theo James will be back for the fifth instalment of the franchise.
A title has been reportedly released for Underworld 5, and it is called Underworld: Next Generation. Although there are still very few details available for the movie, many suggest that it will be about the continuation of a long-term war between Lycans and Vampires by their younger generation.
The details about the plot and the script is being kept as a tight secret, but a little about the crew and the cast of the upcoming movie has been revealed. Underworld: Next Generation will have a female director in the person of Anna Foerster, and reports say that she will be the first female director in the franchise, while Cory Goodman will be in charge of the script.
2 actors are also sure to come back, as Kate Beckinsale was reported to have signed on reprising her role as the tough vampire, Selene. Selene had been the face of 3 of the 4 previous instalments of the film. She reportedly had to lie low a little in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans because she had a child with her hybrid husband, Michael Corvin (played by Scott Speedman).
Aside from Beckinsale, Theo James will also be back to reprise his role as the young vampire, David. He played a minor role in Underworld: Awakening, but reports suggest that he might be given focus now as he could be a contributor to the fuel that reignited the flame between Lycans and Vampires.
Filming for Underworld: Next Generation reportedly starts in October and will be set in Prague. No release date has been set for the movie yet.
