Michael Pausic of Maverick Capital manages media and telecommunications investments at the hedge fund. He is leaving the US$9 billion hedge fund to put up his own shingles.
Pausic joined Maverick back in 1997 after Lee Ainslie established the fund back in 1993. He has always envisioned to branch outside media and telecommunications investments and would be receiving significant investment capital from Maverick to assist him in establishing the fund. This was confirmed by sources who spoke on condition of anonymity.
It was also confirmed that Pausic has been planning to resign as a partner of Maverick for over a year now. Despite the resignation, it is expected that Pausic would retain close ties with Maverick Capital.
The move was announced to Maverick staff and top investors are being given notice of the resignation of Pausic. A Maverick spokesman declined to provide a comment on the move or the availability of Pausic.
