International Airlines Group has secured order deal to purchase 18 787 Dreamliners from Boeing, which faced a dilemma when regulators worldwide banned flights of its 787 jets over lithium-ion battery overheating concerns.
IAG, which owns Spain's flag carrier Iberia, said in a released statement that it would be replaceing some of British Airway's current fleet of Boeing 747-400s between 2017 and 2021.
On March 28, Boeing's chief executive Jim McNerney called regulators to allow its jet be back into service as the company showed confidence that it has successfully repaired the grounded battery problems.
Moreover, IAG has been in discussion with Boeing on the commerical conditions to order 747s for Iberia.
