Another actor might be joining the cast of Marvel's Doctor Strange, as '12 years a Slave' star Chiwetel Ejiofor is rumored to play as the sorcerer Baron Mordo. Contrary to what has been indicated in the comics, his character will not be as evil in the film.
Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor is rumored to be playing the role of Baron Mordo, who, in the comics, served as Doctor Strange's opponent. In the comics, Doctor Strange and Mordo were both mentored by the Ancient One.
Eventhough they were both students of the same teacher, the difference between them is the fact that Mordo prefers on using black magic, summons demons to get what he wants, and even tried to kill his own mentor once.
However, in the film, Mordo will reportedly be not as evil since his wickedness will be toned down and will be a mixture of different characters from the story of Doctor Strange.
This instance of changing various aspects of a character in the film compared to the comics is not new to Ejiofor's Mordo as the role of the Ancient One was also changed for the film. In the comics, Ancient one was a man while in the movie, Marvel reportedly decided on making the mystic mentor a woman. The actress rumored to take the role is The Grand Budapest Hotel star Tinda Swinton, although neither she nor Marvel has confirmed anything yet.
Casting may not be final yet but the movie is now being worked on as it is scheduled for release next year. Immitation Game actor Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing Doctor Strange and is said to be preparing himself for the role.
Doctor Strange is about an arrogant neurosurgeon who loses the function of his hands in an accident. Wanting to heal himself, he seeks for help from the Ancient One and learns the power of magic. The movie is directed by Scott Derrickson and set to hit theaters on November 04, 2016.
