Persona 5 2015 Release Window Confirmed for North America and Japan; No-Show in E3 Gave Way to Dark Souls 3?

By

Persona 5 publisher, Atlus, has already confirmed a 2015 release for North America. Prior to this announcement, it has only been known that the title will be arriving in Japan sometime this year, and the launch for NA might be at a later date, even to next year. With fans expecting big reveals from the E3, the PR manager of Atlus explained why this did not happen, along with some other speculations as to why this was the case.

Atlus made the statement in its official site, saying that Persona 5 has been slated for a release window in 2015. The news came to IGN, where the site mentioned that the title was initially just announced for Japan this year. At the same time, the game did not make an appearance during the Electronic Entertainment Expo last week, which fans were highly anticipating. It was suspected that Atlus is saving the information for another major event, which is the Tokyo Game Show.

Another report shared an interview with John Hardin, who is the PR manager of Atlus. When asked why there wasn't the slightest update on the title, he said, "Persona 5 is one of our biggest titles. We have to treat it with delicacy and care. No one likes to be spoiled, and especially not with a title of this magnitude. We just don't have anything ready."

It was also rumoured that Persona 5 was held back from making reveals during the E3 to give way to another title from Atlus, which is Dark Souls 3. Since the latter is also a very popular game, the publisher might not have wanted to compromise the spotlight, as noted in a games article.

Persona 5 is still greatly a work in progress. Fans of the franchise should keep posted for pieces of information to trickle down once in a while. With the game to arrive later this year, major announcements are expected to arrive at some point, like that of the Tokyo Game Show as well as in some other time.
