The Guinness World Record states the second trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens released in April is officially the most viewed film trailer on YouTube in a 24-hour period. The trailer was watched more than 30 million times in a day.
The trailer sees the return of Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford again, alongside co-pilot Chewbacca. Star Wars also holds a Guinness World Record's title for the most successful film merchandising franchise.
During the opening panel at Anaheim, a brand new trailer was shown by Lucas film production giving finest look yet at the movie. The trailer was streamed to 35 theatres across 23 countries, including IMAX locations and London's historic Empire Leicester Square. Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and other members of the cast were seeing reunited on stage during the opening event.
This first installment of the franchise's new trilogy; The Force Awakens will be set 30 years after Return of the Jedi. Though the series set is in the Star Wars universe, the series is not linked to the main storyline, or The Force Awakens, directed by JJ Abrams.
The character called Supreme Leader Snoke will be played by Andy Serkis, the motion-capture actor behind Gollum and King Kong. Andy looks to be a baddie and will play the part in mo-cap garb. In addition, Gwendoline Christie the Game of Thrones favorite is to play a Stormtrooper called Captain Phasma.
Under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, the movie will still come from Lucas film. Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens is the first that has been made since the purchase of Star Wars by Disney but this is the seventh Star Wars film.
With Abrams a huge and vocal proponent of film over digital, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be shot in a more traditional anamorphic 35mm (Kodak film stock 5129 apparently). Nevertheless, the film *will* be given the IMAX treatment, with a tweet from JJ Abrams' Bad Robot production company presenting an IMAX camera being used.
The Christmas will officially come a week early this December once Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens hits in cinemas to kick off a new trilogy across the galaxy this Dec. 18. We're only six months from a new Star Wars!
