For many loyal following, GoPro Hero 5 should be heaven-sent. However, recent reports indicate release date of fave sports high-definition camcorder is moved to next year, 2016. It seems it the California tech company is gunning for greater things - building a bigger, better GoPro this time around. This could be some sort of trenching in, in light of much cheaper super camcorders currently available.
Those sports enthusiasts and thrill-seekers who had hoped October 5, 2015 would be the start of their Christmas as the much-ballyhoed official date of launch may have to realign their agendas. And do some waiting in the meantime.
Reportedly, the American company formerly named Woodsman Labs, Inc is moving back GoPro Hero 5 launch to next year. This should give ample time for the tech titan to factor in unprecedented upgrades - features that will make the hi-def camcorders even more astounding to the extreme-action world.
Already, speculations are rife the next action camera will be packed with an 8K resolution. Rumor has it that for his iteration GoPro will come out with the 'most powerful videographic equipment' the world has known. Wow!
Certainly, it's a big leap from the rather low 4k resolution that GoPro Hero 4 is boasting right now. Not only that, the next iteration will allow you to churn 3D images even in motion.
And if that were not enough, reportedly the 8k quality also dubbed as Full Ultra HD offers a whopping 4230 pixels! It seems Nick Woodman's company is really pumping it all up.
But that's not the end of the tale of the tape. It is expected that the following killer features will also be added:
- battery life more than twice than Hero4
- dual - lens for 3D video recording capability
- improved waterproofing up to 60 meters deep
- touch screen
Additionally, expect greater collaboration with GoPro channel for future owners. So what's all the shoring up of these stunning capabilities?
One thing's clear at this point in time, Go Pro, the undisputed leader in extreme sport camcorders is upping the ante. This could be timely as super low budget Chinese competitors are creeping in. Perfect example: Xiaomi Yi Action Camera with comparable specs to Hero4.
Yes, Go Pro may have the quality advantage but there is a lot of work to do. Looking at a $64 China-made product alternative with comparably similar features - arguably - is definitely tempting when Go Pro devices are tagged at $400 and up.
Of course, when you talk about getting more bang for your back, it's a no-brainer. But for those who are wanting to skimp on their budget, the decision could be tough.
In the meantime, designers and tech specialists are busy prepping for GoPro Hero 5's release.
