Call of Duty Black Ops 3 is set to follow in the footsteps of Destiny, considering the success of the latter in 2014. Through the partnership of Activision with Sony, the shooter title will be arriving on the PlayStation 4 sooner as a timed exclusive.
This will be a good strategy for both the developers and the publishers as it creates excitement for the game, and lead to better sales. At the same time, big reveals are set as Treyarch teases of a showcase in an upcoming event.
During the E3 2015 event held this year, it was seen that Call of Duty Black Ops 3 became part of Sony's presentations rather than the on the usual spot they held with Microsoft. This implies that Activision is making a tie up with the former as a means to raise the game's status.
As reported in a games article, Eric Hirshberg, who is the CEO of Activision, eagerly announced that users of the PlayStation consoles will be able to gain early access of the Black Ops 3 DLC. On IGN, he comments, "The time was right for us to partner up with Sony, they really wanted it."
Of course, those who are using Xbox and the PC need not worry as Hirshberg adds, "It's important to remember that this is a cross-platform game and everyone gets all the content eventually and it's going to be the best shooter on any platform no matter where you play."
Since Sony played an important part is Destiny's success in 2014, a similar outcome is being hoped for the shooter video game. To show that the Treyarch title will really be worth playing, gamers should mark July 9 on their calendars as the dev's Twitter account posted a photo showing the said date with the caption, "It's time to start writing the next chapter." Consequently, this pertains to the San Diego Comic-Con.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will feature a four-player online campaign for the Xbox One, PS4, as well as the PC. Beenox and Mercenary Technology are developing the versions for older consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360, where there will be a two-player co-op campaign.
