Filming is underway for DC's Suicide Squad and it seems like the events behind the camera are also as worth following as Jared Leto delivered special gifts to his co-stars in the movie. A 'therapist' has also been hired for the actors.
Some of the cast of the upcoming movie Suicide Squad were photographed while filming and even in between takes. The cast which includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Kiler Croc were spotted sharing talks with each other during their break in filming in Toronto area.
Although Jared Leto who plays Joker hasn't been able to film with them in the location, he made sure his co-cast members that he doesn't forget about them when he sent them 'weird' gifts. Adam Beach who plays Christopher Weiss revealed that Leto sent Margot Robbie a live rat with a letter, and bullets to Will Smith, also accompanied by a letter. Leto has reportedly sent the cast a dead hog and a video as well.
"Basically, what he said was, 'Guys, I can't be there but I want you to know I'm doing my work as hard as you guys. The video he showed is in character. It blew our minds away. Then we realized that day, this is real. ... He encompasses this beautiful man and he shows it in, 'Hello, how are you?' but in an instant, he goes to psychotic behavior where you're in fear." Beach said.
David Ayer also reportedly hired a, sort of 'therapist' for the cast to make sure they don't get too far with their character. "David Ayer is about realism," Beach said.
"So if your character is tormented, he wants you to torment yourself. He wants the real thing." He added.
But even though realism is the main target for the film, Beach said that Ayer has his own way of taking care of his actors, "We kind of have like a therapist on board if you fall off the wagon and really are villainous. There's a friend of [Ayer's] that's very unique in making sure we have our ground." He said.
Suicide Squad also stars Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. It has been slated for release in August 05, 2016.
