The amount of US $14.5 million in Series A financing was raised by AgBiome LLC, a company that develops agricultural products designed to improve crop productivity. The funds would be used to assist in the firm's R&D programs as well as introduce the new products to the market.
Amongst those that participated in the financing round includes Polaris Partners, followed by ARCH Venture Advisers, Innotech Advisers, the Harris & Harris Group and other strategic advisors and investors.
According to AgBiome Chief Scientific Officer Dan Tomso, "Microbes associated with agriculture ecosystems are a nearly infinite source of useful new genes and biologicals. AgBiome aims to become the world leader in agricultural discovery centered around these resources."
