We Are Hunted, a three person music streaming start up from Austraila was recently acquired by social media giant Twitter. A joint announcement formalized the acquisition last Thursday.
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but this is an affirmation of the intent of Twitter to become the center of multimedia content distribution.
Just this past year, the 140 character message network has expanded its capabilities to have pictures, videos and other content over and beyond.
According to a statement from We Are Hunted, "There's no question that Twitter and music go well together. Artists turn to Twitter first to connect with fans and people share and discover new songs and albums every day." It added that they could not reveal what they would do in Twitter, but it would said that their platform would be shut down.
As for Twitter, aside from a welcome tweet, there were no other comments from the social networking giant.
