An instagram feud between Amandla Stenberg and Kylie Jenner is raging and it all started with a selfie from the Keeping up with the Kardashians star that provoked a hasty comment from the Hunger Games actress.
Kylie Jenner posted an Instagram selfie sporting a perfect cornrows braid with a caption saying "I woke up like disss." The 16 year old Amandla Stenberg who starred as Rue in The Hunger Games, left a message to the said post. She said "When u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter."
Kylie then replied: "Mad if I don't, Mad if I do.... Go hang w Jaden or something." The 17 year old reality star was referring to the fact that Amandla went to prom with Jaden who is rumored to be her ex-boyfriend.
According to E! Online, Kylie's post also created a racially concerned debates between Instagram users. The fans are divided, referenced both stars and posted comments that side either of the two stars and spark a bigger issue on racism.
The Instagram picture of Kylie is currently generating more than 1.3 million likes and more than 109,000 comments.
Amandla was in the headlines earlier this year in an intellectual and provocative video where she discusses the issues of cultural appropriation, posing the question: 'What would America be like if we loved black people as much as we love black culture?'
In the clip, titled Don't Cash Crop My Cornrows, the teen said "Appropriation occurs when a style leads to racist generalizations or stereotypes where it originated but is deemed as high-fashion, cool or funny when the privileged take it for themselves."
A screenshot of their race rant now circulates the internet. But representatives from both stars have no immediate comment about the matter.
