Ian McKellen, 76, is set to portray his newest character addition to the many roles he played in the film and movie industry for so long. Ian McKellen brought into life the older version Sherlock Holmes with belief that he and the fictional London-based detective shared the same vision and conviction; and that it is never too late to solve puzzles and mysteries even at old age.

The two-time Oscar nominee shared that he was able to relate with Sherlock Holmes in terms of solving mysterious; that if he was not particularized, he believed that he would not be able to play the role and this goes with all the roles he represented in the past, People reported. Judging from the scrip and seeing himself in the life of the characters was Ian McKellen deal on how he accepts roles.

Reuters shared that The Lord of the Rings and X-men veteran Ian McKellen has brought the 93-year old, Sherlock Holmes into life, who is now a bookkeeper and has long retired in solving mysteries and cases. The younger versions of the detective portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Downey Jr. were still showcased.

A new twist is definitely up for Mr. Holmes as it is based on the novel A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin that follows the life of Britain's most famous and mysterious detective Sherlock Holmes as he tries to overcome his failing and rusty memory of solving given puzzles like he used to in the past, Time Magazine featured.

The movie, Mr. Holmes, was also plotted in a way that it gives another spice and twist to Ian McKellen's portrayed character that does not rely to Dr. Watson anymore unlike previous installments but introduced a new 'sidekick' named Roger that will be portrayed by Milo Parker.

The film is directed by Bill Clindon, the director behind the two installments of Twilight Saga.
