The "Fight Club" fever is still well and alive as Chuck Palahniuk has recently confirmed that a musical play based on his novel is well underway. The award-winning author is currently working with Nine Inch Nails frontman, Trent Reznor and renowned director David Fincher for the said project.
A single tweet surfaced this week talking about a "Fight Club" rock opera. The said tweet came from entertainment reported Jeff Goldsmith and naturally, fans of Chuch Palahniuk's works are very much intrigued about it.
Goldsmith gave the information away during San Diego Comic-Con and mentioned the people behind the new "Fight Club" adaptation, reports The Verge.
The reporter tweeted, "So @chuckpalahniuk told me he's working with David Fincher & @trent_reznor to do a #FightClub rock opera - an enhanced version of the film!"
Turns out David Fincher, who directed the 1999 film adaptation of Palahniuk's novel starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton, has been planning to translate the book/movie to broadway since 2008 for the 10th anniversary of the film, according to an article by /Film.
Chuck Palahniuk himself has been mentioning the broadway version of his novel early this year. In his interview with MTV, the author was asked if his most popular work will get a movie sequel or a TV version. His answer basically laid down the vital details of the new project but nobody seemed to have paid attention.
"Fincher is optioning the stage rights. He's finally moving on to the big rock opera," says Palahniuk.
He added, "David says that there's been a rock opera for every generation, you know, "Tommy" and then "The Wall," but there really hasn't been a really big one for the current generation - and he and Trent Reznor are really determined to make that happen."
Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has already worked with David Fincher countless times for film scores. This time, they will be bringing their tandem to the broadway stage.
"Fight Club" will be hitting the broadway stage soon as Chuch Palahniuk is currently working with director David Fincher with Nine Inch Nails Frontman at the head of the musical score. After the "Fight Club 2" comic book, the author is now working on another adaptation, which just proves that his most popular novel remains relevant up to this day.
