‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’ Debuts in Theatres September 18; Cast and Crew Compare Notes on Mazes vs. Deserts at Comic Con 2015

The cast and crew of 'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials' took to Comic Con last July 10, 2015 in a jam-packed promotional brigade for the upcoming teen sci-fi thriller. They even compared notes about the first movie versus its sequel.

In the new trailer, Thomas and the rest of the Gladers are taken to a barren stretch of land to face new obstacles - a totally different landscape from the maze in the first film. In an interview with Zap2it, director Wes Ball revealed the prime modifications in the sets of both movies.

He said, "The Maze Runner' was about two or three sets. This is about a dozen... We have lots of different really cool locations setting the score. It's just kind of desolated ruin of our modern world ruined by sand. It's a very different set piece. It's going to be fun seeing our cast going through that journey."

According to MTV, some lucky fans who were in attendance at the event were treated to the world premiere of the new trailer during their panel kick-off. Actress Rose Salazar, who plays Brenda, admitted it was also her first time viewing the trailer.

The distinct landscapes in each movie in the Maze Runner trilogy seemed to have left strong impressions on each of the cast. In a Comic Con interview with Pop Sugar, they were asked to pick which was worse - the maze of the scorch.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who plays Newt, answered after a thoughtful pause, "It's hard to say really. They're both pretty bad... When we finally free ourselves and get out of the maze, we realize that actually the scorch is pretty miserable." Dylan O'Brien, who plays Thomas, adds by saying, "I'd have to say the scorch because it's entirely unpredictable, you know. Everything in the maze was contained at least."

Returning fans may have more to look forward to after the Comic Con highlights. 'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials' will make its theatrical debut on September 18, 2015.
