Hannon Armstrong Sustainable Infrastructure Capital is now in the process of preparing for a US$200 million IPO with a market capitalization of US$234 million. The price midpoint range of each share sold for the firm is at US$13.
HASI operates as a REIT that employs 20 people. With that, each employee is worth US$12 million based on the midpoint share valuation. The REIT is dependent on the US Federal Government that awards contracts regardless of free market forces. With just one revenue stream and low overheads, it is able to produce lots of income.
Aside from the REIT business, HASI also provides debt and equity financing for infrastructure projects for sustainable development. These projects include increasing energy efficiency, finding cleaner energy sources and drafting plans for efficienty use of natural resources. SInce 2000, the company has been able to arrange financing for over US$3.9 billion of financing for 450 infrastructure projects.
