An obvious and undisputed fact--Dead or Alive is one of the fighting games that has been around for almost as long as there have been fighting games for the current-gen. Team Ninja explains their side regarding the rough patch that Dead or Alive 5 is going through as of the moment, preventing the next-gen hardware to get their fair share.
There was a an apparent delay in an update for online multiplayer to the Windows PC version of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, that as Team Ninja claimed, had some "major issues", according to the information disseminated on gamespot.com. Technically, the game was due to be launched on February 17, 2015 but was given to the public by March. Atop of that, it lacked the feature of online multiplayer, which was considered a major bummer for many gamers.
Team Ninja proclaimed that the patch for the game was bound to be fixed and updated approximately three months after the PC version was released. Opposing to that statement, a certain mishap was declared by the developers, thus causing a bigger controversy since they dropped a date for the said patch.
With information from Polygon, Team Ninja was quoted, "We originally announced that we would release the update by the end of June 2015. However, due to major issues found during the beta test, we will be postponing the release of the update. We apologize for the last minute notification and regret deeply the trouble we have caused our Steam customers who were looking forward to the online functionality. We will update the website with a new release date as soon as it is set."
Despite the tragic events, Dead or Alive 5 Last Round and Team Ninja decided to continue the publishing of the game for the PC. They highly recommended that players use more of the offline features to avoid inconvenience for now. Generally, the game still lives up to the reputation that the previous installments have carved for the franchise, as reviewed in Euroagamer. The large roster of characters that compose the game, as well as the majority of the characters being in daring and exposing costumes have made the trademarks extremely notable.
Fans can only hope for the best as the next-gen release of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, supposedly for June 2015 was postponed indefinitely, and until further announcements are to be given, the disappointed anticipation may have to be slightly prolonged.
