AMD confirmed of launching their product, Radeon R9 Fury, later in August. Specific dates weren't released during the company's earnings call of second quarter fiscal of 2015.
During an interview with WCCF Tech at 2015 Q2 earnings call, CEO Dr Lisa Su said that AMD is quite pleased with the R9 Fury X launch.
"Our initial ramp-up has been as expected, we're pleased with the Fury X ramp-up. Certainly the fact that it's out of stock is not a bad thing cause it gives us good confidence that the customers are appreciating the product. Fury just launched actually this week and we will be launching Nano in the August timeframe. I think overall the High Bandwidth Memory ramp-up is going as expected and we have a number of products coming out," said Dr. Lisa Su.
AMD confirmed that limited supplies were exceeding in demand. Priced at $649, Radeon R9 Fury flagship graphics processor comes with similar specs from its predecessor, Fury X.
Improving up the lineup, AMD's new R9 Fury X increases card shading resources with the massive Fiji GPU. Significant shift for the company has gained expressive efforts in launching Fiji as not just another high-end GPU launch (their 3rd on the 28nm process). R9 Fury X with its SKU will not sell with reference design as of Fury X. Although the card has a very serious potential of outselling both the Fury X and NVIDIA cards, AMD chose exclusivity for only two manufacturers. ASUS and Sapphire, two exclusive PCB manufacturers, will be aiming to custom-tune and make it affordable as possible for AMD's usage of conventional air-based cooling solutions.
Featured with 224 TMUs (Texture Mapping Units), 64 ROPs (Reder Output Unit), and 4 GB of memory across a 4096-bit wide HBM interface; Compared with the Fury X , the performance experiences a 512less stream processor. 50MHz lower core clock speed and core is clocked at 1000 MHz resulting to a trimming performance.
Reports given by Tom's Hardware about AMD Radeon R9 Fury X, shared of its improvements based on power efficiency by increasing by 50%. Result showed reduction of power limit to the card.
