First Institutional Funding for The Football App

By

The Football App was able to increase its first institutional funding with a Eur10 million Series A capital funding from a group of investors headed by Earlybird Venture Capital. The additional funds will be utilized to develop social and community features of the site. In addition, it plans to include products that complements football as a sport.

CEO and co-founder of The Football App Lucas von Cranach said, "We've so far bootstrapped the company and built an incredibly loyal user base of mobile football fans. With the recent explosive growth rates, especially from all over Europe, we realized the potential to build the leading digital football community as a space to inform, connect and engage interested parties around their passion for football. Today we are delighted to have found the perfect partner to realize our visions and accelerate our plans."

The Football App collates information, news and services from the top global football sources and then puts them all in a "one stop shop" for football fanatics. The users can customize the application based on their requirements and be easily accessible at any time and any place. It has become the most popular football application and aims to continue its global growth, most importantly for the forth coming 2014 FIFA World Cup to be held in Brazil.
