Apple Launches iOS 9 Beta 2: Trial Version Pros and Cons Revealed

By

Apple has released its second latest version of the the iOS public beta, for public scrutiny by to the public beta testers, July 22. This is in preparation for the operating system's general release sometime this fall.

The update comes just two weeks after Apple unveiled a public beta of its mobile operating system for the first time. We can remember that earlier this year, Apple only invited individual and enterprise developers who want to build new apps on top of Apple code, to sign up for the developers' testing. They had to sign up for one of Apple's Developer Programs, which require payment of membership fees that start at $99 per year.

Techtimes acknowledged participating public beta testers who are now on iOS 9 can upgrade their firmware to the second version via an over-the-air update. To get started, they need to go to the Settings app, open General, Profile and iOS 9 Beta Software Profile and delete the existing profile. There will be a prompt to confirm if they want to delete the profile or not before rebooting their device.

After the reboot, users can open the Settings app again, go to General and Software Update. The device will start looking for the iOS 9 public beta version 2, and once the update is detected, users can simply select Download and Install.

News Factor shared that the public need only valid Apple IDs and a backed-up or secondary iPhones, iPads or Macs they can safely use to try out this trial version. This is due to the fact that they will be testing a not-final build of the software and Apple has not yet finished cleaning out the bugs of the software. Again, users who use their Apple devices for work, school or anything else that is too important to risk on a beta iOS are not recommended to download the beta update.

Also, it is comforting to know that if ever a public beta user needs to opt out and to a stable operating system, that can be done safely in two ways: via downgrading via a device firmware update or re-downloading a stable version of the software while in Recovery mode.

Meanwhile, Macworld UK thinks that the final version of iOS 9 will come out most likely in September. New iPads will come out by October, and these will have iOS 9 preinstalled, they added.
