Honda launched Accord 2016 at the San Francisco Bay Area with Apple's CarPlay and Android Auto. The car manufacturer also opened its Mountain View Research and Development Facility, which will concentrate on developing new technologies for upcoming editions.

Honda, the premium carmaker, was spotted in San Francisco Bay Area as the new Honda Accord 2016 is launched at Honda's Mountain View Research and Development Facility, reported on Recode.

Frank Paluch, Honda's American Research and Development head said in a press release that the car manufacturer launched both Apple's CarPlay and Google's Android Auto in the new Honda Accord 2016.

Along with the event, Honda also inaugurated their new Silicon Valley R&D facility. Since San Francisco Bay Area is now a main hub for car manufacturers embedding technology on their new set of car models, Honda will offer resources to tech innovators in developing prototypes for automobiles.

As Apple's CarPlay and Google's Android Auto were integrated in the new sedan, Honda found it fitting to showcase it in the Bay Area to give importance on its contribution in the auto industry today.

The Auto Blog had described some of its great features. Inside is a seven-inch Display Audio interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto navigation.

Above the display was a large 7.7-inch screen with controls where you can access audio information, rear view and the side LaneWatch camera. Outside is an improved LED lighting.

When its competitors are investing in their homegrown entertainment systems, Honda is spending it on CarPlay and Android Auto, taking into consideration their customers who want to have the Apple and Android apps on their car. It would be a lot easier listening to Apple Music while driving and asking Siri to reply to your messages. But obviously, it would only be an option; the main navigation system is still the top concern.

Though Apple unveiled 34 automobile manufacturers that signed in to integrate CarPlay with their models; Hyundai, Ford and Mazda to name a few, Honda will be the first to introduce it on their newest unit in 2016.

The company will continue to look at possibilities of supporting platforms on other models in the future as well.
