Longmire Season 4 filming in New Mexico has officially wrapped up with the cast posting tweets from the set hinting to Netflix to bring the show to Season 5.
Actress Louanne Stephens, office dispatcher and manager Ruby to Robert Taylor's Sheriff Walt Longmire, tweeted last day photos from the set of Longmire Season 4. One particular post with lead star Taylor was captioned," Teary-eyed! Ruby's last scene s4 will meet again #Longmire Days 7/16 & next year @netflix?"
Lou Diamond Phillips who plays Henry Standing Bear on the show tweeted, "For those having kanipshins, just finishing the season not the series! We have every hope & intention of coming back!"
Longmire was picked up by internet streaming service Netflix for one season with 10 episodes after fans came out in droves to campaign on Twitter to have the show back on the screen.
Season 4 almost did not happen when A&E network made a surprise move to cancel the No. 2 hit show after the end of Season 3 in August 2014.
Longmire had been the highest rated scripted show on A&E with a strong 5 million viewer base each episode and was widely believed to be on its way to continued renewals on A&E, reported Cinemablend.
Enstars reports the cancellation caught the rabid fan base off guard, resulting in an outpouring of support on social media in particular, Twitter.
The strong clamor from fans moved show producer Warner Horizons Television to offer the show to other networks. After 3 months, Netflix finally picked it up but only for one more season.
Netflix issued a statement confirming its picking up the hit show, "When Warner Horizon Television came to us with the idea for a new season of Longmire, we were intrigued because the series is so unique, and consistently great. We are thrilled to help continue Walt Longmire's story for his large and passionate following."
Longmire Season 4 picks up from the Season 3 cliffhanger with a gun going off as Longmire confronts his wife's suspected killer.
