Jodi Arias may have been charged guilty of murder and sentenced to prison for life but she still has one more supporter who believes in her innocence. A rapper who goes by the name of Lefty has recently recorded a song defending the 36-year-old convict.
Kareem Williams, also known as Lefty, composed a song expressing sympathy for the woman who has been recently convicted of first-degree murder. The 34-year-old rapper, whom according to Phoenix New Times is a fanatical supporter of Arias, claims that she never received a fair trial due to the media hype surrounding it.
The Arizona Supreme Court ruled that the public should be allowed to watch trial of the accused, also permitting the media to cover the hearing. Arias have even appealed to testify in private but the court declined her request. The rapper believes that the story was being sensationalized by that coverage and has made it much more difficult for Jodi, as he calls her, to receive a fair trial.
Williams claims he attended the trial at every chance he got and has written letters to Arias. In fact, he has even blogged about it on his website. Also, the artist says he has been in touch with the family of the accused ever since the trial commenced.
As per KTAR News, Williams has already made the song titled "Jodi Ann Arias" available for purchase on iTunes for only 99 cents, 34 of which will reportedly be given to Arias' appeal funds. The song mentions the woman's post-traumatic stress disorder which her counsel used to elude the death penalty.
"PTSD is a serious thing and I feel like if she had gotten the help for it early, I think it could have prevented this," says Williams. "I think a lot of times it goes undetected in people. This is a situation where it went undetected and it was costly."
Currently, the song has been played about 141,000 times through a free streaming outlet.
Former waitress Arias was noted to have been accused of murdering her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander, who was found dead in 2008. She was tried for stabbing her former partner roughly 30 times, slitting his throat from ear to ear and shooting him in the head. Last month, Arias was finally charged guilty and was sentenced to prison for life.
