The former WBC boxing welterweight champion and Southpaw actor, Victor Ortiz was arrested on a charge of assault of deadly weapon.
The boxer- turned actor, together with his brother, Temoc were arrested on Saturday at Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean show at Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena, California when they got into a verbal altercation with another concertgoer which led into violence, according to TMZ Sports report. Witnesses told the police officers that the war of words definitely escalated the whole situation which eventually turned very physical as Ortiz kicked the unnamed man to a point where he was really knocked down to the floor. And he didn't really stop there, while the man was pinned down on the floor, Ortiz was still kicking him non- stop.
Because of the aggravated occurrence, cops were called out and soon enough the Ortiz brothers were arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon, the weapon allegedly being victors foot as he used it to injure the man, while kicking him to death during the incident.
The Southpaw actor slash boxer and his sibling spend a brief time in the police station, but soon after, they were released after bailing $30, 000. After being released, Ortiz and his clan never even spoken about the experience making a whole lot of boxing fans to wonder what really have caused him to assault the unknown man during the concert. Many speculated that he may be drunk at the moment, while others say he must be in some kind of an emotional state since he was not able to control his temper during the time, other critics also pointed out he's getting arrogant now that he's getting into Hollywood's spotlight after appearing as an actor in the movie, Southpaw which premiered in theatres on Friday.
Whatever the reason is, only Ortiz, his brother, and the witnesses during the Kenny Chesney concert only know what really happened during the kicking incident. As of Ortiz's words to defend himself during the assault, he has not even spoken a single word about it.
