Chael Sonnen makes pro-wrestling debut as color-commentator; calls Phil “The Jabroni”

During a pre-wrestling event, former two-division Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) title holder Chael Sonnen tested the waters as an announcer before his first official fight. The now professional wrestler challenged former UFC fighter Phil Baroni whom he regarded as "Phil The Jabroni".

After being introduced to the audience in Jeff Jarret's Global Force Wrestling last week at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Chael Sonnen teased them by mentioning Phil Baroni, who, like him, has also shifted from Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) to professional wrestling. Sonnen first asked the crowd to sit and be silent as he talked. Bloodyelbow quotes him the following lines as part of his speech which was directed to Baroni who was also at the event:

"You know, Jabroni, my plate's a little full tonight but that could change by August, and I assure you if it does, it will be one more in the win column, one more for the highlight reel, and one more for the bad guy."

Chael Sonnen was joined by broadcast veteran Cyrus Fees who did the play-by-play of the event, reports Pro Wrestling.

According to MMA Mania, Sonnen also analyzes MMA fights and does podcasting. His program "You're Welcome" on the Podcast One Network features high profile guests from MMA and pro wrestling. Aside from the Global Force Wrestling, Sonnen is also keeping himself busy analyzing in ESPN despite being suspended from Fox Sports.

The former UFC fighter also owns a T-shirt line "Bad Guy". In an interview, the former middle weight and light heavyweight title holder emphasized that he was able to turn "chaos into "cash" with the ventures he has entered into.

Sonnen, 38 has retired for over a year now from the UFC after given a two-year suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for not passing a random drug test.
