An agreement has been signed between Clean Line Energy Partners LLC with Power Network New Mexico for the acquisition of a proposed 200 mile 345 kilovolt transmission line. The said power line would transfer renewable power sources between New Mexico and western US states.
The New Mexico Renewable Energy Transmission Authority (RETA) and the Power Network are in the process of developing the Power Network line also known as the Central New Mexico Collector System headed by Michael Skelly, President of Clean Line Energy in Houston, TX.
According to Clean Line, the acquisition of Power Network from GS Insfrastructure would be completed after obtaining regulatory approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The deal's details were not disclosed.
The proposed line would collect 1.500 megawatts of renewable power from New Mexico's east-central area and then move the generated power to the electric grid near Albuquerque, NM. From here, the power can be sold in the western United States market.
Another benefit would be the line's ability to attract investments worth more than US$2 billion in renewable energy and transmission revenue in New Mexico.
