Gotham season 2 spoiler updates have revealed that some new and equally interesting players will be added to the series. Butch Gilzean will officially be a regular villain on season 2 as the actor Drew Powell, who played Butch last season, has already signed up to become a series regular. Other actors who will also be series regulars for season 2 are the following: Morena Baccarin, Nicholas D' Agosto, and Chris Chalk.
Fans of the series will be seeing more of Fish Mooney's former goon Butch in this new season. Cinema Blend further reported that Butch will have to prove his worth to the notorious Oswald Cobblepot aka the Penguin. Butch's character, who apparently has undergone some brainwashing forcing him to faithfully follow the Penguin, will then also have to undergo challenges under his new boss who is now hailed as the leading crime lord of Gotham city after the retirement of Carmine Falcone and the death of Sal Maroni.
Plotline, the series' showrunner Bruno Heller said that Gotham season 2 will finally be about the execution of what had already been previously laid out during the first season. Digital Spy even reported on the statements of the show's executive producer John Stephens who said that season 2 will be about fully serializing the show which meant that they will be focusing on a singular storyline that they will be unveiling throughout its 22-episode run. In addition, the show's producers have also reassured fans that they will probably get to see more of the Joker in this new season as well as Tabitha Galavan aka the Tigress. Michael Chiklis' Nathaniel Barnes will also be appearing in this new season as the Gotham City Police Department's new captain.
Despite an ever expanding roster, Uproxx reported the issues behind the TV series' constant casting of new series guest stars and regulars. Season 1 of Gotham had to write in new episodes just to accommodate the new characters of the series. However, with season 2's singular storyline and their set plan on making a 22-episode season, there's a chance that a sudden expansion of episodes would be diminished.
Gotham season 2 will premiere on FOX this September 21.
