After the debut of the 'Deadpool' theatrical trailer last July 11, 2015 at the San Diego Comic Con, three exclusive stills from the movie have been officially released. The trailer's official formats will be revealed for waiting fans soon enough. Main man Ryan Reynolds also said that this may be his last superhero role.
After the trailer preview broke out at the official screening at the SDCC, the internet has not stopped talking about the upcoming anti-hero film said to be the first with an R-rating. Three official photos have just been revealed featuring Reynolds as Deadpool. Empire just recently dropped these stills to the delight of fans worldwide. One photo showed Deadpool's alter ego Wade Wilson in civilian clothing and his love interest Vanessa Carlysle a.k.a. Copycat portrayed by Morena Baccarin. Another was a shot of Deadpool in his full body suit and a third featured the foul-mouthed crusader with Negasonic Teenage Warhead played by Brianna Hildebrand.
According to Slash Film, the film will follow Wade's transformation into Deadpool and the latter's exploits as the Merc with a Mouth - hence the photos revealing Reynolds in both civilian and hero outfits. Cast and crew continually reiterated how the film adaptation of the character would be as crass yet entertaining as his comic book counterpart. Reynolds reportedly spoke of his character at the recent SDCC panel. He said, "I think this is the most faithful adaptation of a superhero from a comic to a movie I've ever seen." Based on the chaotic, violent, sarcasm-filled footage shown at the Comic Con, he may just be right.
Reynolds is no stranger to superhero roles, although fans can't exactly call the mentally unstable yet humorous masked mercenary a superhero. In the past, he took on the roles Green Lantern as well as Hannibal King in 'Blade: Trinity'. Deadpool may be his last attempt though. In an interview with Huffington Post, he admitted that he may have to hang up his crime fighting uniforms for the future. He said, "We all want to be Batman alone at home in our specifically-sewn Bat pajammies, but no, I have no desire to play any other superheroes after this." He did, however, express the desire to do a sequel depending on fan and studio support when it comes down to it.
'Deadpool' is set for theatrical release in the United States on February 12, 2016. It is an upcoming superhero adventure film in the mainstream Marvel universe under the direction of Tim Miller and is intended as a spin-off in the X-Men film series.
