Hostess Brands LLC disclosed plans to reopen its bakery in Kansas by summer. The plan to revive its eastern Kansas branch was initiated with the hiring of an approximately 250 employees. It was reported that last 12th of March of this year that Twinkies are due to return in the market by May and will be joined by other famous snack brands of Hostess. This was announced after Metropoulous & Co and Apollo Global Management, who acquired Hostess out of bankruptcy.

Prior to its closure, the Bakers Union agreed to meet for mediation with Hostess Brand on the 19th of November 2012. In spite of its efforts to resolve the problem, the shutdown was not avoided. Two days after the mediation, on the 21st of November 2012, US Bankruptcy Judge Robert Drain finally approved the request of Hostess to shutdown that resulted to ending the production of Twinkies in the United States. Over 500 employees lost their jobs in that closure.

On the 25th of April, another target schedule, July 2013, was announced. All the renowned snack brands will return but not all together at one schedule. Other brands are slated to return by August and September 2013. Hostess plans to expand the bakery and aim to hire around 300 people according to Hostess Officials.
