Tommy Lee Jones is the latest to star alongside Matt Damon in 'Bourne 5' as a CIA officer. Alicia Vikander is also officially on board for the upcoming fifth installation in the 'Bourne' franchise.
According to Variety, the multi-award winning actor is set to play the role of a high ranking CIA officer. As of the present, plot details remain unknown however the character may be of the same lines as the ones played by Edward Norton and Chris Cooper in the previous 'Bourne' films. Jones had similar authoritative portrayals in his roster of critically acclaimed movies including Agent K in 'Men In Black', Sherriff Ed Tom Bell in 'No Country for Old Men' and even Deputy U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard in 'The Fugitive'. To say that the speculated role would fit him like a glove would be an understatement.
In another report by Screen Rant, having Jones on board would not take Viggo Mortensen out of the running as antagonist to Damon's Jason Bourne in 'Bourne 5'. Mortensen was previously reported to have been offered the part of a trained assassin recruited to hunt Bourne down. So far, there had been no confirmation yet of this casting despite all the guesswork.
In addition to Damon and Julia Stiles reprising their roles in the upcoming film, Alicia Vikander was confirmed as part of the cast members' newcomers. According to Movie Pilot, the Swedish actress, recently praised for her seamless performance as Ava in the science-fiction thriller 'Ex Machina', signed in on a mystery part. She reportedly passed on a role in Ubisoft's live-action adaptation of 'Assassin's Creed'.
'Bourne 5' is set to hit the big screens on July 29, 2016 under the direction of Paul Greengrass who also directed 'The Bourne Legacy' and 'The Bourne Ultimatum'. The films are a series of critically and commercially successful spy films based off author Robert Ludlum's thriller novels.
