‘The Muppets’ comeback on ABC: New posters tease adult content, nudity and mockumentary style

The beloved puppet characters 'The Muppets' are back. Thanks to the 10 minute presentation which made ABC nod for a new TV series. Before the series will premiere its hilarious season on September, its sneak peek and new posters have promised of mature content.

'The Muppets' are headed to ABC this fall with lots of anticipation from fans. The comeback was made possible after a ten minute pilot presentation was produced to sell the project to ABC, according to Den of Geek. The presentation is said to have garnered more than 800k views on YouTube and 15k likes, shares and comments on Facebook, driving a 5,000% increase in the series' DAR-TV .

As per ABC's official description, "The Muppets return to primetime with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time ever, a series will explore the Muppets' personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. This is a more adult Muppet show, for "kids" of all ages."

In a recent report by Screen Crush, ABC has released five new posters for 'The Muppets' featuring Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie and a group shot, all of which promise a different take on the Muppets. The posters show Kermit going full frontal, Miss Piggy being her egotistical self, Fozzy getting waxed and a thoroughly modern Gonzo with cell phone and coffee in hand.

Additionally, the network promises a more 'mature' tone for the show's comeback on ABC. ABC's Paul Lee said at the upfront presentation that "these aren't your grandmother's Muppets."

According to Blastr, the ABC series will be done in the mockumentary style for 'The Muppets'. The network has also enlisted the 'Big Bang Theory' co-creator Bill Prady and 'Anger Management' Bob Kushell as co-writers and executive producers. Randal Einhorn, on the other hand, is set to direct the pilot and is also serve as executive producer along with Muppet performer Bill Barretta.
