The Amazon Dash, the dongle you can stick anywhere in your household for quick and convenient ordering, is now on sale exclusively for Amazon Premium customers only. Amazon will charge $5 for each.
Amazon is introducing a Wi-Fi enabled device that you can stick near the brands you use at home, the Amazon Dash. You can place your order through the mini dongle by pressing the Dash button. The order will be directed to Amazon requesting for confirmation through your smartphone. Amazon will deliver it to your home. You won't have to go out to buy it from the store.
Tech Hive detailed that through the Amazon online shopping app, you must specify the exact variant of the brand to be linked to the Dash each time it was pressed and how much will be purchased. Then Amazon will automatically send email alerts if you want to discard new orders. Only one order can be processed for delivery.
Right now, 255 Dash button brands are available such as Maxwell House, Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, Tassimo, Cottonelle, Clorox, Glad, Huggies, Tide and Olay, as indicated on the Amazon Dash website.
The Dash is limited to Premium members only for $4.99 and comes free for lucky 'invited' customers. The device includes an adhesive and a hook so you can attach it or dangle it around the kitchen / dining area, laundry or bathroom near the section of the merchandise.
Along with that, the e-commerce company also launched DRS (Dash Replenishment Technology). It is a service provided by Amazon to manufacturers who wants to embed an ordering button or an auto-detection system if the machine such as a coffee maker or a washing machine is running out of supplies. Amazon will accommodate the validation, customer service and the payment systems.
Piper Jaffray, a research analyst, is convinced that Amazon Dash will set the platform of the e-commerce industry in the future. "We are increasingly optimistic on the future of automated ordering, which Amazon is beginning to enter with its Dash Replenishment Service. We believe this will be the next wave of ecommerce and that Amazon will dominate this segment," the Business Insider reported.
Some people see the Dash and DRS as one of Amazon's tactics to haul endless costs from its customers. But for busy working moms, it may save the night running out of their babies' nappies.
