Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 under AT&T is now getting huge system overhaul as it skips OS update to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop beginning last week.
This good news was announced by the AT&T through its support page. Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 is one pioneering Samsung device to get the official update coming straight from one of US' major mobile carriers.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, being the last update for Lollipop as reported, can only be downloadable to Wi-Fi-only and LTE-enabled versions. According to reports, the update was first made available since last May.
From Android 4.4.2 KitKat, AT&T's Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 will get dressed with useful features and exciting changes out from the latest update. Additional enhancements include update on quick settings for enhanced Wi-Fi and Bluetooth management, more animations, improved notifications, screen pinning and alarm, update on security software and improved memory management.
Preloaded apps like Famigo, WatchON and Beats Music are also removed.
For Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, AT&T shall notify your phone that the update is readily available. If you want to experience what Android 5.1.1 Lollipop brings, hit install and follow onscreen instructions.
To manually check the update, do the following instructions.
1. Head over to Settings.
2. Click General.
3. Click About device.
4. Click System update.
5. Click Check for update.
Wait until instructions pop up on the phone. Before installing the firmware, make sure the device is charged up to 50 percent. Do not forget to back up your data through Samsung KIES or an external storage device.
The update is at 926 MB, way heavier file compared to previous update's 113 MB. To see if the update has been successfully installed, go to Settings menu > General > About device and build number shall now be LMY47X.T537AUCU1BOG5 while software version is 5.1.1.
In December 2014, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 was last updated with Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Its notable features include the ability for purchases at Google Play Store to be billed to AT&T bill for postpaid accounts, plus google security and stability enhancements.
