Dr. Jean Grey Famke Janssen Is Set To Join The Court Room In "How To Get Away With Murder"

X Men's Famke Beumer Janssen is joining the cast of "How to Get Away with Murder season 2 for a multi-episode arc.

Famke Janssen who has been playing the role of Jean Grey in the "X-Men" series has signed on ABC's legal drama "How to Get Away with Murder." Details on her character are being kept under wraps, but TVLine reports that she will play a revered defense attorney who takes her job seriously. There are speculations that 50 year old, Dutch actress' character will go against Viola Davis' character Annalise Keating.

"How to Get Away with Murder" is a legal drama series that premiered on ABC on September 25, 2014. The series was created by Peter Nowalk, produced by Shonda Rhimes and distributed by ABC Studios. Viola Davis stars as a law professor at a prestigious Philadelphia university who, with her students, becomes entwined in a murder plot. How to Get Away with Murder returns Thursday, Sept. 24 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

Janssen is no stranger to TV. Her other TV roles include Netflix's Hemlock Grove, Ally Mcbeal and Ava Moore in Nip/Tuck. On the big screen she has had roles in Taken, Xenia Onatopp in Goldeneye and of course Dr. Jean Grey in the Marvel Studios' X-Men series of movies.

On the other hand, the "X-Men" film franchise shifted gears and turned its attention toward new actors for beloved characters. Janssen described the recasting of her X-Men character as "bitter sweet", with Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner stepping into her shoes as a younger Jean Grey.

X-Men: Apocalypse will see James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult return to face Oscar Isaac's eponymous villain. Joining Turner among the cast newcomers are Tye Sheridan as a young Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as young Storm and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler. The blockbuster will begin filming later this year for release in May 2016.
