Centaurus Capital Returns Investor Funds

By

Centaurus Capital, the hedge fund firm, is returning money to all its external investors after previous clashes on best revenue generating opportunities left them at odds. This was confirmed by a source familiar with the firm's operations.

The partners of the firm based out of London would only be trading using their own funds after its investors had raised a challenge on the executive decision to base decisions on 'event-driven' strategies for company takeovers.

The firm has not made any decision on whether any of the three funds would be closed. According to Randel Freeman, the firm's chief investment officer, through a statement, "We have taken the decision to return investors' funds and go private. We are extremely grateful for the support of our investors over many years; however we are keen for the investment flexibility that running our own money will deliver."

In a related decision, Centaurus would also be closing its Asia office in Hong Kong. The decision would result in the departure of the Asia team led by fund manager Kim Yu Ang.
