Pacific Rim 2 Latest Update: Charlie Hunnam, other major cast to start filming this November; storyline to focus on Kaijus

Pacific Rim 2 is set to begin filming later this year and will focus more on the kaiju monsters. Cast members from the previous film are rumored to reprise their roles while its working title has also been revealed.

After Guillermo Del Toro finishes his work in Crimson Peak, Pacific Rim 2 is said to be his next focus. Pacific RIm 2 will be the sequel to the first film released in 2013 grossing $400 million in the box office. According to Global News, filming for the sequel will commence this November and most of the scenes are said to be shot in Pinewood Toronto Studios.

According to Birth Movies Death, unlike the first film, the upcoming movie will focus more on the monster Kaijus rather than on the Jaeger pilots. The movie is also reported to be set several years after the events in the first film.

Also, reports suggest that the film's working title will be Maelstrom but it is yet to be confirmed if it will also be incorporated into the film's official title. The previous film was also said to have been filmed using the title "Still Seas".

According to /Film, some of the cast members from the previous film are expected to come back as Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi and Burn Gorman are rumored to reprise their roles. Although not much details about the cast has been officially release yet.

Del Toro to sit in the director's chair once again for Pacific Rim 2, from the script by Travis Beacham and Zak Penn. It is set to be produced by Del Toro, Callum Greene, Jon Jashni, Mary Parent, and Thomas Tull, with Jillian Share set to executive produce. It is set to hit theaters in August 04, 2017. More details about the film are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
