Dimension Data To Acquire AccessKenya

Dimension Data has offered 3.052 billion shillings or US$36 million for the full acquisition of AccessKenya, the information technology company.

The announcement was made by Dimension as the offer prices for the Kenyan company has been 14.00 shillings per share. This price includes a 42% premium on share closing prices last Friday, pegged at 9.85 shillings per share.

AccessKenya provides internet connectivity services to homes and businesses throughout the African country. This acquisition would be the first Nairobi listed firm after the restoration of the economy after five years of civil strife in the country.

Dimension Data is owned by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Company and the Japanese firm provides data and network service to fifty one countries worldwide. It operates in Kenya through Internet Solutions. With the purchase, the company would be acquiring the fiber optic network in the two main cities of Kenya, as well as two wireless networks covering nearly ten more towns in the country.
