The hit reality singing television competition The Voice will return for its ninth season after the successful 8 installments. Former "No Doubt" vocalist Gwen Stefani will replace Christina Aguilera as one of the panel judges. Stefani will be joined by high caliber singers Selena Gomez, Missy Elliott, John Fogerty, and Brad Paisley as celebrity mentors.
When Will announced last 23 June that NBC has officially released the premiere date for the returning The Voice Season 9. NBC decided to film the blind auditions in nine different periods stretch over five taping days.
The Voice suffered in terms of rating during its eighth season finale with its lowest of 15% drop compared to to its sixth season. The inclusions of four musical moguls in the show is reported an attempt to increase viewership ratings and gain back the show's popularity. But according to US Magazine, there are more reasons with the choice of the new set of mentors. And it's beyond to attract ratings.
Selena Gomez will be Stefani's team mentor was said to be a backstage favorite and gives great advice to finalists. Gomez was a first choice among the show creators, Yibada reported. Missy Elliott is in her friend's team, Pharell Williams. The two are good friends off screen. Levine has expressed interest in working with John Fogerty when the rock legend performed in one of the finales of the show.
Blake Shelton's team mentor will be Brad Paisley. Brad Paisley is known for his song Whiskey Lullaby released in 2003. Shelton and Paisley are also good friends and Paisley can provide Shelton a hand in developing talents. Paisley was once a judge in Rising Star.
