'Jack Reacher 2' is confirmed to officially start filming on November under the direction of Oscar-winner Edward Zwick. Leading man Tom Cruise is also set to reprise the title role as well as produce the sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel's script is currently in the works and nears completion for the official filming late this year. Edward Zwick will be directing the film since his predecessor Christopher McQuarrie is unlikely to return. Zwick is best known for previous highly acclaimed work including 2006's 'Blood Diamond', 1994's 'Legends of the Fall' and 1980s cult favorite 'About Last Night'. He also received an Academy Award for Best Picture for his work in 'Shakespeare in Love' as producer. His latest film is set to start shooting this November.

The upcoming film was reported to be based off the 18th novel 'Never Go Back' of the Jack Reacher series British author Jim Grant. It will follow Jack's story as he returns to his old military base and arrested for several allegations.
According to Screen Crush, the new film will be Zwick and Cruise's second collaboration after working on 'The Last Samurai' together. A new draft of the script by Richard Wenk is currently being written up by Zwick and producer Marshall Herskovitz before filming in the fall for Paramount Pictures' targeted 2016 release date.
'Jack Reacher 2' is a follow-up film for the action-thriller series first released last December 21, 2012. The first film opened to generally positive reviews although it was one of Cruise's lowest-grossing movies especially when compared to the success of his 'Mission Impossible' films. It grossed $218 million against a $60 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.
