President Barack Obama had handpicked his own song playlist on Spotify, a first from the White House, while the President is having his vacation in Martha's Vineyard.
"Today, the White House joined Spotify - and our inaugural playlist was hand-picked by none other than President Obama. When asked to pick a few of his favorite songs for the summer, the President got serious. He grabbed a pen and paper and drafted up not one, but two separate summer playlists: One for the daytime, and one for the evening," stated in the press release from the White House on August 14.
The President's playlist includes various genres he preferred to listen to. There's classic, jazz, hip-hop, R&B with artists including Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Mary J Blige.
The President's summer list comes in two sets, a daytime and a nighttime; each has 20 tracks roughly for one hour and 38 minutes. It is the first time that the White House introduced an official channel in a music streaming service, noted on CNN Politics.
Along with the playlist, CNBC reported that President Obama had also released his summer reading list on a two-week family vacation in Martha's Vineyard.
A statement from Spotify indicates that the playlist is an attempt for the White House "to grow its social media presences and find new ways to connect with people all over the country through a range of platforms," the Los Angeles Times reported.
The White House assured there would be more playlist coming up with other members of the White House following the President's playlist.
Spotify has added that there will also be playlists associated from issues and events to connect with the public and inform them with the officials from the White House.
